Original Songs for Children

IT’S MUSIC is a company run by experts in the field of children’s music. Their YouTube channel is dedicated to creating fun, educational videos and modern original songs for children worldwide to enjoy!

The brief for each video is to use and adapt existing assets and animations to create an engaging music video for children. Each video features appearances from the two main characters Abi and Ade and sometimes Koko the dog.

However, in some instances, like the Wild West Song in particular, this required the creation of a lot of new assets to the library including a new Horse character.

Testimonial

IT’S MUSIC has recently started working with Matt on their children’s animated videos. We have been so impressed by his creativity, understanding of the brief and speed of design. He fully integrates us in the process of his animation, takes on board any feedback and comes back with impressive alternatives. We are thrilled to be working with Matt and hope that our relationship will continue for many years to come. IT’S MUSIC is proud to be known as one of Matt’s clients!

Storyboarding

Each music video is storyboarded and structured to clearly see how the action will play out for the Verses and Chorus

Generally, the verses are the same sequence with an alteration each time - eg a change of character performing the same action. And the Chorus is usually repeated with little to no change, until the final Chorus.

In this instance, for each Verse, a character is introduced riding on a horse to a Barn. And then the Chorus features both Abi and Ade taking it in turns to play the banjo and line dance. Ultimately building up to everyone dancing together (including the horse) in the final chorus. Lots of fun!

Sketch to Final Design

Storyboarding is more than seeing how the animation will flow, but also a method to figure out the layout and composition of each shot.

If you compare the images on this page, you'll see that not much changed from the Storyboard to Final Design.

However, you'll probably notice how the horse design changed. Initially a generic (and off brand) horse was sketched in as a placeholder purely to see the flow of action. But as the storyboard developed, so did the horse. Once the action was signed off, then the horse was properly realised and refined to match the character design style.

Animation Loops

Where possible, animated loops are created to reuse throughout the video. Fitting for a music video where sections are repeated.

This is a loop of Abi line dancing which was then replicated with Ade.
